Let’s look at our capacity for love, the way we love. Over the past decades we have become absorbed in our own self-development, oriented to our own experience of life. Often what gets sacrificed in this self-orientation is an outflowing generosity of heart. We’ve been conditioned to watch ourselves living life so much that we’ve forgotten how to turn the camera around and just look straight out at the world, at each other, without watching ourselves doing it.
Reopening that chamber of our hearts is about really listening, appreciating, receiving. It is in this chamber that we find our ability to genuinely love another being, to truly have a partnership where we can give and receive love in equal measure. In that chamber of the heart is kindness, letting go of our own perceived needs, and we do the spiritual and life work that it takes to be able to resource in ourselves that which we think we need to receive from others. This is a beautiful way to live, a beautiful thing to teach our children. And the light that shines out from our generous hearts is a transformative energy that is desperately needed at this time.
