Being on a spiritual path can mean a lot of different things to different people. There are an infinite number of ways to engage with Spirit, and indeed, each person’s experience of that relationship is different. Even if you practice a religion with specific guidelines and restrictions, your personal interface with God is your own. Even your understanding of God is unique to you. And in that infinite variety, there is still the choice of just how deep you are called to go on your spiritual journey. What your path looks like and how much you surrender to it are the ultimate choices that lead to true transformation.
Today I will share Wisdom Wednesday with a spiritual teacher who felt called to do very deep spiritual work many years ago. We shared a teacher, or perhaps I should say an Earth Angel, Charles McCall. In that work, we were taken to the depths of our emotional and spiritual pain and resistance. And we were lifted gradually by the beauty of surrender to a true spiritual path that is fully integrated into life, and not separated from it. Please join me for this very special one-on-one with Marilyn Munro, a spiritual teacher from Austin, Texas.
TIME FOR REAL SERVICE? We come here to be challenged and in that challenge we find a way to open, not close. We come here to feel the parts of us that are closed, that are afraid, that are in judgement of others, to then surrender to our innate generous and open hearts.
Some of us seem preprogrammed to be in service. From the time we are small, we take pleasure in helping others. It just seems natural, and we will feel a burst of heart energy in the giving. But so often that desire to be of service gets twisted into something transactional, and instead of doing things for the pure fulfillment and joy of sharing our gifts, we begin to expect something in return.
A lot of this is cultural, but often our sense of self-worth can hinge on whether our expectations to be recognized or to receive something back for a “good deed.” Often, the bar gets higher and ego demands more and more of an exchange.
ENERGY | WE ARE THE TRUE VESSELS OF THE NEW AGE. Energy. Swirling, flowing, emanating, within and without. Energy connects us to all that exists, as everything is made of energy. When it becomes trapped in the body, held by contractions of emotions and mind, stress holds, fear pulls in.
Breath releases the blocked energy to find its way out. Have you noticed how difficult it is to take a breath sometimes? How much resistance there is to move the body? We end up in a holding pattern, sometimes for years, for a lifetime. It can feel extremely dangerous to breathe, to move and release the energy. Feelings and thoughts of stuckness are usually things we try to shift by behavior changes, but without releasing the energy that is attached to the thought forms, the fixes are temporary.
Take a breath and see thoughts and feelings become uncoupled and start to move. Things can change in an instant. It’s beautiful. The stuck energy transforms as it’s released, bursting into colors and swirls as it’s freed. And we, in growing consciousness and awareness, become able to perceive energy emanations all around us.

FROM NO TO YES - FINDING THE VOICE OF YOUR OWN HEART.
The body is always growing, always changing. We are in a constant state of spontaneous adaptation. Yet, we don't think of it this way or even feel this. Why? Well, too often we are too stuck in our own stories, our own routines and daily habits. Today, take a brand new breath with me. Take this moment to view this moment as something that has never been lived before. Take a chance on life. Never forget that your yes is so powerful. Put your cards on the table and dare to be vulnerable. Yes is the most powerful word in the world.
Exhaustion. Emptiness. A feeling like a swamp draining. We push against its seductive entrapment and do our best to stay present and show up in the world with some version of ourselves that is acceptable. It is an act of courage often to walk out into the sunlight of other people’s expectations, or what we think they are expecting of us. But so often, the real beauty of who we are is lurking in those shadowy areas that we don’t want to or are afraid to show the world. And then the exhaustion comes from the constant work it takes to keep pushing our acceptable stories.
A true spiritual path is one that leads us to lift the curtain that separates who we think we need to be and who we actually are. When that begins to happen, there is an emerging connection with Creation. Then the true act of courage is to fill that entire reality with an embrace and to receive our own Spirit self.
Finding the truth, that elusive ideal that hides in plain sight and teases its existence. Sometimes it can feel like the truth about something is obvious, and then you dig a little deeper and that truth falls apart and leads to others that in turn degenerate into confusion.
The highest truth is often the one that is hard to embrace, even difficult to imagine. And you can’t demand that the universe reveal it to you. That I was born to be a deeply spiritual teacher is a simple truth but one which I denied for most of my life.
It is only when I was willing to open fully, beyond my ego needs and ideas and ways I identified myself, that my inner life and the outer life come into alignment. That’s when I began to see and know the truth in all things.
SEPARATING THE MIND AND THE BODY. How can we separate the mind and the body so that we can actually process whatever damaged emotional baggage without the mind constantly pestering us? As you are breathing, moving and feeling energy inside you releasing with your breath, think of the thoughts that occurred in you today. Are you fearful? Angry? Disillusioned? We must learn to not believe in the messaging occurring in our minds. Remember this, if what is occurring in your mind is not loving or neutral, it is your "stuff."
LEARNING HOW TO LET GO AND MOVE ON | Leaving the past in the past. These are usually the biggest issues of our lives, often the things we came here to heal and release. The way out of this is to step out and keep pushing the edge of fear. There is a part of us all, even in the midst of heavy releasing, that holds onto our "thing" whether fear, pain, insecurities, etc. We need to assess our need to hold on to these old habits and tendencies that no longer serve us. Tune in today to learn more about letting go, moving on once and for all.
Some things must end. Relationships of all kinds – to work, other people, ideas, beliefs. Hanging on to something or someone because there’s a fear of losing security or of what life might be like beyond the old attachments keeps us trapped, running circles in a mouse wheel. But how to know when something is ready to change or end, or if it is really calling for even deeper involvement? And if we do have an inner knowing that something is complete, how do we detach?
There is one truth that perhaps we’re getting ready to embrace. It’s a truth that overarches all others - that everything in creation, seen and unseen, seeks to communicate. We think we already know this.
We say: I will open my heart and reach into the space between.
We hear back: I am trying to reach you, but I can’t find you. Be still.
And suddenly, when we don’t demand or expect it, there it is – a pulse of energy, maybe a vibration, maybe a sensation of warmth or chill. Maybe it will come to you if you are true and not in need of feeling worthy, in the unique way that it will, the beetle or flower or goldfish or rock glistening its crystals in the sunlight.
Stay for a long time and maybe the tree will show you its hidden colors and maybe even whisper its secrets.
And if your heart is whispering back in its own secret language, perhaps you will feel received and loved back.
We are all luminous beings, capable of so much more than our limited thinking allows us to believe. We don’t need to be enhanced or led, we only need, like every other snowflake or elephant or baby, to listen and feel and love the other.
